Tania Garza: Cultural Connector and Positive Change Maker

Written by Tulsa Remote Staff | Apr 1, 2026 7:54:04 PM

Tania Garza joined the Tulsa Remote team in October 2021 as a Member Integration Specialist and transitioned to Alumni Specialist in 2026. In her current role, she studies talent migration patterns and network effects to design strategies that help knowledge economy professionals deepen their roots in Tulsa.

"A system must consist of three kinds of things: elements, interconnections, and a function or purpose," says Donella H. Meadows in Thinking in Systems; this philosophy guides Tania's work. She believes impact happens when we understand how people (elements), relationships (interconnections), and shared goals (purpose) work together to create belonging and investment, moving newcomers to active community members who contribute to the city's vitality.

Tania is currently completing her Certified Economic Development Consultant (CEcD) credential with IEDC, formally deepening her technical expertise in economic growth.

Beyond her work at Tulsa Remote, Tania is deeply involved in nonpartisan civic engagement initiatives with organizations like The League of Women Voters and Leadership Tulsa's LT Represent, working to ensure that no civic seat goes uncontested. She also serves on the Governor's Hispanic Committee (Economic Development Committee), the Tulsa Chamber Legislative Task Forces for Economic Development and Energy & Natural Resources, and the CLI Professionals Group with ImpactTulsa. For fun, Tania commits to doing one nerdy thing a week and walks on Riverside to stay active and engaged.

Whether you're interested in volunteering, engaging with Chambers or Tribal organizations, exploring economic development opportunities, or just want the inside scoop on getting involved in Tulsa, Tania is here for it. She can be reached via Slack or email and would love to learn about your passions and help you plug into Tulsa in ways that matter to you.
