Summer in Tulsa is brimming with exciting activities and fun-filled events! From catching drive-in movies to hiking local trails or exploring Tulsa's award-winning park,  there's plenty to do to stay busy this season. Here's our list of top 20 summer activities in Tulsa: 

1. Walk, bike, or run the trails along the Arkansas River

The Tulsa River Parks Trails offer miles of scenic views along the riverfront, perfect for walking, biking, or running—as part of Tulsa’s popular outdoor recreation system

2. Play sand volleyball at Pearl Beach

In addition to sand volleyball courts at various public parks throughout the city, some of the liveliest volleyball games are played at Pearl Beach Brew Pub just outside of downtown! You can reserve courts, join a league or enjoy lawn games!

3. Check out Tulsa Garden Center

Explore the Tulsa Garden Center in beautiful Woodward Park, your local hub for gardening, nature, and education. Enjoy free events, classes, and plant shows year-round, and tour the historic Snedden Mansion with its stunning original features.

4. Celebrate the 4th of July at FreedomFest 

Tulsa’s FreedomFest features live music, food trucks, kids’ activities, and one of Oklahoma’s largest free fireworks displays launched from the 21st Street Bridge over the Arkansas River.

5. Dance and listen to music at Summer’s Fifth Night at Utica Square 

Every Thursday from May through August (7–9 PM), Utica Square hosts this beloved free outdoor concert series—showcasing jazz, rock, country, and more in a laid-back, lawn-chair environment.

6. Have a wild time at the Tulsa Zoo 

Look for summer-themed exhibits like “Zoorasic World” with animatronic dinosaurs alongside classic animal habitats.


7. Shop locally at the Tulsa Farmers’ Market

Shop locally year-round at the Tulsa Farmers’ Market, Oklahoma’s largest farmers’ market, located at 1 S Lewis Avenue in downtown Tulsa. From April through September, the market is open Saturdays from 7 to 11 AM, with additional Wednesday hours from May through August, 8 to 11 AM. Enjoy fresh produce, locally raised meats, cut flowers, baked goods, and artisan crafts from regional growers and makers. It is a vibrant way to support the community and savor the season.


8. Catch an outdoor concert at Guthrie Green 

Catch an outdoor concert at Guthrie Green — a lively downtown green space at 111 E Reconciliation Way that hosts free, open-air concerts throughout the summer. From jazz to symphonic performances and local indie artists, there’s always something to enjoy. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and settle in for a great evening under the stars.

    Presented by the Starlight Band & Jazz Orchestra, each night features a themed program.

    • July 16: “Classics Reimagined” – timeless compositions with a twist

    • July 23: “Fan Favorites” – greatest hits to wrap up the season

  • Off the Cuff Series (Select Saturdays | 7 PM)
    A curated series featuring regional and national indie and pop artists. Dates and artists vary throughout the summer.
  • Jazz on the GreenFriday, August 9 | 6 PM
    A celebration of jazz hosted by local ensembles and guest artists; family-friendly and free to the public.


9. Enjoy the patio at Mother Road Market

Tulsa’s indoor/outdoor food hall features a covered patio area—ideal for enjoying local chef-driven food and craft beverages in a casual summer setting.


10. Hike and bike at Turkey Mountain

Just south of downtown, Turkey Mountain offers rugged hiking and biking trails with beautiful wooded terrain and river views.

11. Catch a movie at Admiral Twin Drive-In 

Enjoy summer nights under the stars done right by watching double features from the comfort of your car at this classic drive-in theater on Route 66.


12. Cool off at the splash pad at Gathering Place

Gathering Place is a nationally acclaimed, award-winning 66-acre park located along the Arkansas River and it’s the perfect spot for summer fun. With imaginative play zones, themed playgrounds, and interactive splash pads, it offers a one-of-a-kind experience for kids and families looking to cool off and explore. 14. Explore the Gardens at Philbrook Museum of Art

20. Soak up the sun at Paradise Beach Waterpark

Paradise Beach Waterpark at 4707 East 21st Street in Tulsa offers a fun tropical escape with thrilling slides, a lazy river, and a special Toddler Paradise.
