As Tulsa Remote recently celebrated its 5-year anniversary, we want to introduce you to Obum Ukabam, one of our very first members!
Obum and his wife, Faith, moved from California, where they felt the burden of a high cost of living and long commutes, taking up their time and creating a lower quality of life for them. After moving to Tulsa through the Tulsa Remote program, Obum found a higher quality of life and a tight-knit community, as he was one of the first 25 Tulsa Remoters.
Obum highlights the various opportunities he and his wife have had in Tulsa. Obum is an actor, director, and actively involved with The Tulsa Arts Commission, Theatre Tulsa, and the Tulsa Ballet, as well as a Social Worker and Community Arts Liaison at Central Middle and High School. Obum also co-wrote and directed the play Reflections, which highlights the history and story of Black Wall Street.
Obum’s wife, Faith, has also utilized the resources in Tulsa to expand her culinary career. They both went through the Kitchen 66 program and eventually opened a permanent spot in Mother Road Market for Faith’s restaurant, Curds and Whey Gourmet.
Obum emphasizes the opportunities and resources available in Tulsa to pursue your passions. “The sky’s the limit here in Tulsa,” he shared.
