One of the best parts of getting to know Tulsa is discovering the neighborhoods that make the city what it is. And few places offer more insight into Tulsa's past, present, and future than Greenwood.

Known as the home of Black Wall Street, Greenwood is a neighborhood rich with history, culture, entrepreneurship, and community. It's a place where you can spend an afternoon learning something new, supporting local businesses, and gaining a deeper appreciation for the people and stories that helped shape Tulsa.

Understanding Greenwood means understanding an important part of Tulsa's history.

Greenwood Rising

One of Tulsa's most meaningful cultural attractions, Greenwood Rising shares the story of Black Wall Street, the Tulsa Race Massacre, and the resilience of the Greenwood community. Through interactive exhibits, personal accounts, and historical storytelling, visitors gain a deeper understanding of the neighborhood's past and the impact it continues to have on Tulsa today.

Black Wall Street

The historic Greenwood District was once home to one of the most prosperous Black business communities in the United States. Today, visitors can walk along Greenwood Avenue and experience the neighborhood where Black entrepreneurs built thriving businesses, creating a legacy that continues to inspire communities across the country.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church

A landmark in Greenwood for more than a century, Mt. Zion Baptist Church stands as a powerful reminder of the neighborhood's perseverance and continued strength. Rebuilt after being destroyed during the Tulsa Race Massacre, the church remains an active place of worship and an important part of Greenwood's story.

Vernon A.M.E. Church

Founded in 1905, Vernon A.M.E. Church is one of the few structures in Greenwood that survived the Tulsa Race Massacre. The church remains active today and serves as both a place of worship and a living connection to Greenwood's history.

Mabel B. Little Heritage House

This historic home offers visitors a chance to learn about the people who lived, worked, and built community in Greenwood through photographs, artifacts, and personal stories. Named for educator and community leader Mabel B. Little, the home provides a more personal perspective on the neighborhood's history and the individuals who helped shape it.
